If I could, I would show you my peace;
the deep waters untouched by your blows
And if I had my way, you'd see in my eyes
the blankness that constitutes my disconcern.
The phone calls we'd have would be carefree
(if you'd muster the guts to answer them).
And you'd hear me laugh and imagine
the true joy that makes me smile like that.
I could be so strong, like a fortress
You could count on my unbiased opinions
I'd convince you my wound was a scratch...
but I never was good at pretending
